Sunday, August 30th Letter from Pastor Paul

Dear Friends,

Welcome to worship at Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church! Whether you are a long-time member or first-time worshipper this morning, we are glad you are here. May God truly be present to you as you worship this day.

It is two weeks and counting until we experience the new times and new opportunities of our fall schedule. Please make sure you are aware of the times for worship and education beginning on Sunday September 13th. Our entire staff has worked very diligently in preparing for this important day in the life of our congregation. Many of you have signed up for educational opportunities, so much so we have had to adjust room locations for some classes to accommodate those interested in attending. God is going to do wonderful things and we are excited! Why not invite a friend to join you in worship and education that Sunday!

Someone said once that “the only thing that doesn’t change in life is the fact that things change!” Whether worship times and schedules or major life events and circumstances, our lives are filled with change and other things producing anxiety and uncertainty – H1N1 flu predicted by some to infect half of our citizens; economic conditions not seen in decades; home foreclosures and job losses; global terrorism and war filling the news every day. In facing all that, we are called to exercise a “yet” faith, the kind of faith spoken of in the book of Habakkuk as we will see today.

Sometimes the smallest words have the greatest significance. May that be true for each of us as we live out lives of faith in today’s world.

In Christ,

Paul

Anthony’s Testimony

Anthony gave his testimony at the Celebration of Youth worship service on August 26th. This young man’s testimony speaks to many things that our youth are dealing with today, his experiences here in CrossOver and at our church, and to what God has done in his life. Anthony was kind enough to permit us to republish his testimony on the web.

Hey. My name is Anthony. I’m a senior at TJ. I was asked to share my story–so here I am.
