Is PayPal Safe?

PayPal is as safe as any online bank, and perhaps safer. PayPal’s reputation is dependent upon it being a safe way to transfer money, and so they have put time and effort into designing safeguards into their system. Obviously, never give your PayPal password to someone who shouldn’t have it, know who you are sending money to, and check the appropriate accounts.

If you have donated money to the PHCPC through the PHCPC website and PayPal, you should be redirected to a “Thank You” page on the web site. You will also receive an automatically generated email “Thank You” note from the church and a receipt from PayPal. The “Thank You” page and note are created by a professional plugin for the website to cut down on errors.

If you have trouble with the website please call or email Rob at 412-655-2000 x143 (if possible, either leave the webpage open or if you know how, make a screencap of the page that is not working correctly).

Who Knows I Donated?

Unless you state differently, the only person who sees that you have donated money is Joyce, the Financial Administrator. She’s the same person who sees your checks. The “Thank You” email is generated automatically; no one working on the website can see that information.

Can I Donate Using a Credit Card?

That’s one of the reasons we created the PayPal option. If you wish to make a donation and get “credit card” points or miles or some other premium, you can.

Can I Claim My Donation on My Taxes?

Yes. You will receive a statement from the church after the end of the year and it will include any donations you have made, including PayPal donations.

Does the Paypal Donation Cost Anything?

The church pays a small fee to PayPal for them handling the transactions, much as a business is charged for processing a credit card transaction. You are still credited with having made the full donation. To make it convenient for people to make donations, the church has decided that it’s worth the small fee.

Can I Still Make a Donation by Check or Cash?

Certainly.
