The sermons throughout Lent will be based on the book Final Words From the Cross by Adam Hamilton (Abingdon Press, Nashville, 2011). This author also wrote 24 Hours That Changed The World (2009). Final Words gives an in-depth consideration of the six hours during which Jesus suffers on the cross. A limited number of books are available in the church office for approximately $10.00 each. It is also available for both Kindle and Nook.

Wednesday February 29
7:00 PM–8:30PM in the Youth Room
An Evening of Fun, Training & Worship
This quarter, the Youth Ministry will have as our speaker PHCPC’s own David Delmonico, Ph.D., NCC, ACS. David’s a professor in the Department of Counseling, Psychology and Special Education at Duquesne University. He’s also a director of Internet Behavior Consulting Company.
David has a wealth of knowledge and experience in areas of addiction and depression. Anyone who is a parent or works with students knows how prevalent these problems are in our culture and in our own community. This event will be helpful for (and is open to) youth leaders, children’s leaders, parents and grandparents. Please circle the date and make it a priority to come and have a night of learning, spiritual refreshment, worship, fun and relationship building. If you have any questions, please contact Tim Comer at 412-655-2000 x130 or send him an email.

Are you wondering where you can deposit those shoes you’ll never wear again? We have the answer!! PHCPC is collecting new or gently used shoes to be taken along with them (June 2012 mission trip) to the EBAC orphanage in Haiti! The best type of shoes would be crocs, flip-flops, tennis shoes or work boots and all sizes are needed.
While Keaton Lindberg and his father were on the mission trip to Haiti last year, they noticed that few of the Haitians they met had shoes. For us in the United States, shoes are a simple, common thing. Not so for the people of Haiti. Keaton thought about this and decided to make his senior project an effort to collect shoes for the Haitians for when he goes back for the mission trip this year.
Collection begins on Mission Sunday, January 22 and continues through the month of February; donations will be collected in baskets in the Great Room Lobby. Your support is very much appreciated.

If one of your New Year resolutions is to read the Bible, the Bible Gateway web site has several options for you:
Bible Gateway Reading Plans
The variety of Bible reading plans is amazing. They can even be emailed to you each day.
Bible Gateway is a wonderful resource. There are 30 versions of the English Bible on Bible Gateway for comparison reading. Other languages are also available should you need them.
One other trick: If you can’t remember where a verse is in the Bible, type what you can remember into Google. Almost always, one of the first couple links that come up will be the verse you are looking for!

With our increase in attendance this year CrossOver is in need of additional adult leaders to help out–particularly dads! The moms have stepped up. This year we have been blessed with 7 new moms that are helping out on Wednesday nights.
There are many areas in which you can help out: serving food, assisting in leading small groups or just plain being a presence during the evening and filling in where needed. We would love to talk to you about the many possibilities where you can impact student’s lives for Christ. Please contact Tim Comer or Kevin Vinay if you are up for this challenge.
