MUSIC ministries

Chancel Choir...The Chancel Choir provides music ministry for our 9:30 worship service in the sanctuary. The Chancel Choir is open to all high school or older singers who enjoy singing for our Lord! Rehearse Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. Repertoire includes the favorite hymns of our faith, a broad mix of choral selections, and major choral works such as cantatas and musicals.  This fall we will prepare the musical "The Shepherd's Song" for Illumination on December 15.

Instrumentalists...Instrumentalists are included regularly in worship and for special musical concerts and recordings. Whether you play trumpet, viola, flute, saxophone, tuba or percussion, use your musical gifts to glorify God and be a part of something special. Brass and winds are included regularly with the worship team. Orchestral instruments play once a month in the traditional service. Each of our choirs needs a keyboard accompanist. Schedule an audition today and help share the gift of music and praise. Put those hours of practice learning your instrument into a joyful outlet for your life!

Technical Ministries...Technical Ministries include those who help with multimedia needs of the worship services. If you enjoy working with computers, sound boards, or lighting, this is the team for you.  Come use your skills.

Worship Teams...Worship Teams sing and play for our 11:00 service each Sunday. Rehearsals are Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. Worship Teams are open to high school or older musicians. The team consists of guitarists, keyboardists, drummers, singers and wind instrumentalists. The groups sing worship and praise songs, contemporary solo songs, and instrumental accompaniment for worship. If you have an interest in joining one of the teams, an audition can be scheduled. Teams are scheduled generally every other week.

Children's Music...All Stars for Jesus is a mid-week ministry for children preschool to fifth grade. Children enjoy fellowship, clubhouse, games, and music. As part of the All Stars for Jesus, children learn songs that build their faith and play fun musical games. Learning about Jesus is twice as much fun with music! About once a month they lead worship on Sunday mornings. Every semester the children prepare an exciting musical production with fun characters to play and great contemporary music. Music is preformed to an age appropriate level. The K-2nd graders sing together and the 3rd - 5th graders sing together. The Thanksgiving service includes the younger group dressed up as pilgrims and Indians, The Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve is also a family tradition.

Handbells...The Carillonaires perform fun handbell pieces for worship and at local nursing homes and community programs. Meeting on a weekday morning, this great spirited group of musicians work together to make a joyful noise. Ability to read music is required.

Ushers...If you love to meet people, come be an usher! Every worship service at our church needs an usher team to act as the hosts of the church. Greeting warmly, assisting special needs, and handling emergencies are all part of this ministry. Eight teams share the schedule so they are scheduled approximately once every three months and for special services. Contact Rick Place at 412.882.0583 to sign up!

Sanctuary Design Team...Making our worship space beautiful and inviting is the work of our Sanctuary Design Team. Includes everything from providing the memorial flowers for each service to creating beautiful displays for Easter and Christmas. If you love to create beautiful rooms in your home, use your talents to help make God's House beautiful! Contact Robyne Hinson at 412.653.0868.

Communion Teams...This year we are moving towards having communion the first Sunday of every month. Ordained Elders and Deacons are invited to serve communion in our worship services. If you have been ordained an Elder or Deacon in the PCUSA, please contact Roy Fowler at 412.653.4121 to be scheduled to serve.

Music Librarian...Often our music groups go through so much music that we are in need of hands to help sort, file and prepare music for our program. If you love libraries, come help us with ours!

Drama...If you have a dramatic flare, use it to encourage others in their faith. From drama sketches for worship to full length musicals and plays, we want to help you break a leg. Contact Hope Collier at 412.882.9643.

Middle School Musicals...Opportunities for youth to be part of worship and prepare musical theatre productions are set each semester. We will begin rehearsals in October.  Watch for further details of this fall's Middle School production in the bulletin or send us an e-mail to get on our e-mail list!
