New Ministry Announcement
John & Diane Davis
As some of you know already, as of January 1, 2007 PCUSA is dissolving the ministry of Laredos Unidos and merging it with another border ministry, Proyecto Amistad. The present Coordinating Team of Laredos Unidos will be unemployed as of that date. Sadly, Noé Espinosa will be moving with his family to Saltillo, MX. His life of exceptional ministry is over for now. John and Diane Davis are staying in Laredo, TX to begin a new ministry to the poor. The name will be TRANSITIONS MINISTRY. Transition because that is the life of the people on the border, and the life of John and Diane: from Pittsburgh to Laredo, from business to missions, and most importantly, with acceptance of Jesus Christ, transition from death to eternal life.
Transitions Ministry is proposed to be a true bi-national ministry working in both Laredo, TX and Nuevo Laredo, MX. There are poor, hurting and hungry people on both sides of the border. There are also people in both cities that need the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Helping them transition from death to life is our mission and our life. We will always be mindful of, “it is not about us. It’s all about Jesus.”
Who will we work with? The ministry will be working with the Food Bank in Laredo, TX and their after-school program, Kid’s Café. At these cafes we will be presenting the gospel to children. The ministry will also be presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to children’s homes and orphanages in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo and the colonias on both sides of the Rio Grande. We will also be actively scouting areas for new church plants and if invited, working with the churches planted by the former ministry of Laredos Unidos.
Transitions Ministry will be hosting short-term mission groups in the Laredo / Nuevo Laredo area in 2007, We may also be working with groups in Saltillo, MX under the invitation of the pastor of a church plant in that city. You can help with your prayers and financial contributions to the ministry or by planning to serve the Lord with us. The ministry address is:
